Is There Anybody Out There (reading this)?

I am quite new to this blogging world, I haven't even hit two pages of posts yet! Not that I thought I'd have a huge following less than a month in, but I do wonder if I'm doing ok. I wonder if I talk (type) too much or if my blog is too boring. Oh my, am I doing something wrong?

A review should be just what I need, but I didn't want to go venturing out into blog-land asking strangers for a review without any previous blog-ship. It seems a little like walking up to a stranger and asking if they like you're outfit to me.

When I stumbled upon The Evolution of a Blog over at {Twenty}Something (one of the first blogs I found and followed), I found myself nodding in agreement with so many of the thoughts on her list. Then I saw the part about the blog-link party over at Beauty in the Attempt, it was a sign from blog-land. Go ahead, go ask that stranger!

So here's my chance to join in with some Bold and Beautiful blogs!

  1. I'm reading!

    Love the linen background and your sidebar is really well organized...easy to read and follow.

    If I were to change anything (and this is just personal preference!), I think I would change out the main blue color. It seems really bright on my screen compared to the soft grey text and linen background...

    Cheers to you and your pups!

  2. Hey -

    I sometimes want to put a post out there that just says "Is anyone out there?". It is just so nice when we get comments and just now if anyone is reading if they don't comment! I am thinking you need to beef up your banner. There is room up there for some pictures or images. (I don't have any either, but I am trying to work on learning how!) I can't tell from what I am looking at now, but have you installed the "Link Within" widget where it will suggest other posts you have written at the bottom on each post? That will help showcase some stuff. You could also add some picture to the right side in the sidebar of projects you have done (I am also working on that!). I think you have a great start and are exactly where I was when I started. Happy Blogging!

  3. I like your blue header and your linenn background. To grow your blog you have to:
    a) write posts
    b) link up those posts to a linky party that is consistant with your content
    c) visit, visit, visit, comment, comment, comment
    We all started out the same way, nobodies! :)
    I put up a great post today, check it out. You might also want to check out the posts that I refer to at the bottom of today's post.
    If you need any help, just give me a holler!
    so glad you linked up!

  4. @allenaim photography and design-
    Thank you for your input, I was originally worried about the colors winding up too dull! I am trying to capture a calming slate blue that doesn't come off as too grey.

    @Heather-
    It's funny you should mention the banner, er, lack thereof. I tried a few banners that were available and they looked out of place. I wish I knew my way around graphic programs for Mac a bit more! The "Link Within" widget sounds great, I'll have to look into that!

    @Gail-
    Thanks for everything, you make it sound like I'm on the right track! ;) I will surely come back to your blog and scope every post out for some great tidbits!

  5. Hello my dear! I am thrilled that you are linking up and trust me...everyone wonders the exact question you do. :) I think Gail hit every point that I could with her comment. You have to get out there to be seen and then to entice. I saw your blog roll. One gentle suggestion is also start looking into blogs that are newbies too. Newbies support newbies..start creating your own circle of support. I just did a post on this. A lot of times big bloggers are just so busy that they can never venture further than their domain....BUT newbies will follow and support you b/c they are hoping you do the same. It all goes back to working together and helping each other. Once again these are just gentle thoughts. I know that taking a risk and putting yourself out there is very scary, but you should feel so proud and empowered. I hope that you are not a no-reply when dealing with comments. I always love being able to respond to my bloggers. Also...if you need anything, Gail and I would love to help. Just let us know what we can do. :)

    Have a great start to the week, and I hope this is the beginning of seeing more of you in little blog world. :)

    Cheers~

  6. e-

    Thanks for the advice, I'm always open to learn!

    It's been fun finding new blogs to follow and to be inspired by. I'm not looking only for well established blogs by any means, they are just simply easier to find. I'd love to maybe start a link-party/blog-hop (is there a difference?) for just "starters" but I have no idea how to get the idea out there since my blog itself is so new. Perhaps in a short amount of time!
